There’s a sense of anticipation when a new community launches. It is exciting to imagine who will live in the community. How will it transform and grow over time?
This month we celebrate the success of our sold-out community, GeorgeTown in Reunion, Airdrie. The final home was completed this month, and the last homeowner moved in.
Slokker Homes President Peter Paauw, as he walks through the community, says he feels a genuine sense of joy.
“GeorgeTown is a very attractive community that will continue to increase in appeal and value over time,” Mr. Paauw said.
“It is exactly the type of community people are looking for, where space and quality align in a welcoming, boutique setting.”
1. COMMUNITY DETAILS

Located off Veterans Boulevard in northwest Airdrie, GeorgeTown features 103 homes, with some houses backing onto an attractive pocket park in the heart of the community.
There are 44 duplex homes, 24 triplexes, 23 laned homes and 32 front-drive single-family homes in the community.
The central park includes swings, balance beams, picnic tables, a cubby house and natural landscaped play areas.
Mr Paauw said the park is his favourite place.
“We see families gathering in the park with their children before or after dinner,” Mr. Paauw said.
“It’s perfect for enjoying outdoor time with your family, without having to go far or worry about kids running on the road.”
2. HOMEOWNERS LOVE GEORGETOWN

Homeowner Carly Goheen, who purchased a home in GeorgeTown’s first phase, said “the homeowners in this community are amazing.”
“We absolutely love living in GeorgeTown.
“It is on the edge of Airdrie and very private, but still close to everything you need.
“Having the greenspace behind us is beautiful. We love looking out and seeing that.”
Like many homeowners in GeorgeTown, Ms. Goheen plans to stay in the community for “a very long time.”
3. LOCAL AMENITIES
Located across from the popular Woodside Golf Course, GeorgeTown is an easy commute to most Calgary-area amenities with good access off Veterans Boulevard.
It is a quick drive to major shopping areas and popular stores such as Canadian Tire and Superstore, along Veterans Boulevard.
And it is a few minutes’ walk to Herons Crossing School in Reunion.
4. HOMES WITH GREAT LOTS AND FLOORPLANS

GeorgeTown sales manager (single family homes) Melissa Acierno said buyers were typically drawn to the size of the homes, the spacious, practical floorplans, and the premium designer finishes.
Popular single-family models included the Brayden, Oscar and Tamillaup to 2,174 sq. ft. in size. Two popular duplex models, included the Monarch and Monarch XL.
All homes include stone countertops, 9’ ceilings on the main floor, spacious basements, and vinyl wood plank flooring.
“Homebuyers loved the pie lots,” Ms. Acierno said. “And fortunately, we had quite a few of them.”
5. HOME VALUES HAVE SOARED
Home values at GeorgeTown have soared in recent years to the delight of owners, Ms. Acierno said.
“As a realtor, I can say this community is great value,” she said. “Home prices have increased significantly since we started selling here.”
Ms. Acierno said the large homes, large lots and premium designer finishes all contributed to the increase in value.
Prices for GeorgeTown homes have risen more than 20 per cent this year, she said.
“I expect values in this community will continue to climb on this kind of solid trajectory.”
6. INTEGRATED FOR A LIFETIME OF LIVING
One of Airdrie’s quieter communities, GeorgeTown offers multiple housing styles to meet a range of preferences – all with premium finishes.
Mr. Paauw said he was proud of the community and the finished result.
“GeorgeTown is beautifully integrated,” he said. “It will continue to be a great place to live for many years to come.”
